Andrew Russell - Managing Director

The company is led by Managing Director Andrew Russell, a Chartered Structural and Chartered Civil Engineer, who has 40 years of structural engineering experience working with leading consulting engineering practices around the world. He has designed and inspected a wide range of building structures, across most sectors of the built environment and has a wealth of knowledge of building defects. Andrew has also developed a reputation as an expert witness to assist in dispute resolution.

Ray Panther – Associate Director (Surveying)

Having worked within the civil and structural engineering industry for over 30 years, Ray has developed a deep enthusiasm for the built environment by undertaking inspection of buildings, structures and infrastructure on all scales. Ray often reflects that he has had the privileged to have been involved in many sectors over his career, learning and evolving his skillset from colleagues and industry professionals. He has provided survey and inspection services and led inspection teams for clients covering domestic, local authority, developers, commercial, industrial, education, power, heritage, highways, defence, and rail projects.

Ray provides a no-nonsense approach to defect diagnosis and has a sound understanding of modern and economic repair methodologies for buildings of all construction methods, whether it be bricks and mortar or through to precast or reinforced concrete. Knowledge and experience with the inspection of non-traditional methods of construction enables him to undertake intrusive investigations to obtain the necessary information and appraise buildings in a pragmatic manner that would otherwise be disregarded.

Ijas Ali - Associate Director (Design)

Ijas is a Chartered Structural Engineer with international experience in buildings, infrastructure, and construction engineering projects. Ijas leads our structures team, managing projects for private and public sector clients. He has a flexible hands-on approach and uses his expertise to provide robust designs and project management.

Ijas has been involved in structural design and project management of building projects ranging from small residential to large iconic building projects around the world. Ijas also brings in experience in managing and delivering large infrastructure projects for the rail sector including electrification, metros, and station designs.

Ijas is passionate about bringing in efficiency in structural engineering by innovation using digital technology.

Jon Tobin – Senior Structural Engineer (Surveying)

Jon has been working for Structural Surveys since Sept 2018 as a Senior Structural Engineer (Surveying) He enjoys the challenge of using the digital reporting and data capture systems developed by Structural Surveys Ltd.

Jon has over 40 years experience as Structural/Civil Engineer undertaking Structural surveys, Commercial and domestic fire, flood and subsidence Insurance claims, Structural Design and Detailing, Project Management, Party Wall Surveyor, CDM Supervisor / Principal Designer on commercial, public sector and domestic projects.

Jon has been on building sites since the age of 6, as his father was also a Structural Engineer.

Away from work, Jon has a small farm and enjoys the outdoor life.

Kristian Martin – Senior Structural Engineer (Surveying)

Kristian has over 28 years of experience in Civil/Structural Engineering practices including the last 8 years as a Structural Engineer and Surveyor. He relishes a new challenge and particularly enjoys problem solving when it comes to structural defects and finding the solutions.

Starting out as a Technician on the drawing board to progressing onto AutoCAD and then Revit he believes in technological progression which is what drew him to Structural Surveys Ltd. As a Structural Engineer he ran projects, large and small, carried out site inspections and was adept at Client/Architect liaison. He particularly enjoyed working on old/derelict properties in need of repair and restoration.

At Structural Surveys he enjoys visiting properties, assessing defects and recommending solutions using Structural Surveys Ltd’s digital reporting and data capture system

Frazer Fletcher – Senior Structural Engineer (Surveying)

David is based in the midlands and has almost 50 years’ experience starting as a junior in 1972 and becoming a chartered structural engineer in 1985. Mostly working for consulting engineers, he has carried out design work on small residential projects right up to multi-story major city centre developments together with carrying out many building surveys, reporting on flood, impact, subsidence, and party wall issues. This wide range of experience has given him the tools to unpick the reason for structural issues within buildings and the possible design solutions. This coupled with the technology available helps him to ensure a quick and informed response.

David Hughes – Senior Structural Engineer (Surveying)

David is based in the midlands and has almost 50 years’ experience starting as a junior in 1972 and becoming a chartered structural engineer in 1985. Geraint Lamble – Senior Structural Engineer (Surveying)

Geraint has more than 13 years’ experience in structural and civil engineering design and surveying.

After completing his degree at Oxford, Geraint started out his career in design consultancy and became Chartered with the Institute of Civil Engineers in 2014. He is fascinated by and enjoys the puzzle of uncovering the cause of structural defects to buildings and structures.

During his design career he gained broad knowledge through all aspects of construction on a range of Civil and Structural engineering projects which he now applies to conducting structural surveys and diagnosis of structural defects.
Geraint has always seen innovation and digital technology as the way forward to increase efficiency and reduce environmental waste and is always looking for ways to improve and adapt the tools used by the company.

Adrian Shrimpton - Principal Structural Engineer (Surveying)a

Adrian is an Engineer with over 30 years constructional experience, having begun his professional life working within Structural Engineering and graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. Throughout his career he has diversified into the insurance market and has worked with several major Loss Adjusting firms including QuestGates, GAB Robins and Merlin specialising with claims with a structural element. He has vast experience and knowledge upon a wide breadth of type of buildings ranging from low-rise domestic housing, through to large commercial structures.

Having joined Structural Surveys in January 2022, Adrian is passionate with respect his new role, enjoys inspecting and reporting upon properties with structural defect utilising our bespoke digital technology.


George Lifely - Senior Structural Engineer (Surveying & Design)

George is a Chartered Engineer with a strong understanding of structural principles gained from consultancy experience in both the Civil and Building Sectors. He has a passion for using digital technology in the engineering industry, with a proven track record of finding innovative solutions to challenging problems.
George is an intrepid explorer, having visited over 40 countries and is an advanced scuba diver, a rugby fan and a keen cyclist!

Jenny Mabbutt - Structural Engineer (Surveying)

Jenny began her engineering career 18 years ago in a Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy carrying out Structural Condition Surveys for several clients, including United Utilities. During her time at this consultancy Jenny developed a keen interest in the industry and commenced her Studies at Bolton University Part-time whilst continuing to carry out Structural Surveys.

Jenny Graduated from the University of Bolton in 2015 with a BSc in Civil Engineering. Subsequently she commenced work within a Structural Design Consultancy working on projects for several clients including a range of National Housebuilders. Her work at this time centred on Foundation Design (including Site Investigation review and subsequent RC Trench Fill, Raft Foundation and Pile and Groundbeam Design and Detailing) as well as a variety of residential Superstructure Design Schemes.

Having joined Structural Surveys in July 2022 Jenny is passionate about her new role. She is enjoying utilising our bespoke technology to carry out and report on properties which allows for increased efficiency in both the inspection and report writing process.

Outside of work Jenny enjoys running, open water swimming, walking and loves horse riding!

Omar Ahmed – Senior Structural Engineer (Design)

First and foremost, Omar loves his job as a Structural Engineer. He is ambitious, adaptable hardworking and has worked in the UK and abroad. His wide range of experience in academic, construction site and structural design offers him the knowledge to achieve the best solutions for the structural problems and taking decisions. He always puts the needs of his client and project first, to ensure that his designs are practical, usable, and economically viable. Loving his work here at Structural Surveys Ltd where he is surrounded by amazing colleagues. He had the opportunity to use new technologies and take advantage of a range of engineering software.

Lastly, managers and seniors always pass positive feedback that allows him to learn and give more.

Daniel Pearson – Senior Structural Engineer (Design)

Having joined Structural Surveys in February 2022, Dan had developed up from Graduate level to Associate within 8 years. He intends to achieve Chartered status as soon as possible.

Bringing his experience across a number of sectors and disciplines including residential, industrial, healthcare, education and commercial along with projects for the MoD. He is excited to help develop the Design Team here at Structural Surveys, offering assistance to colleagues and managing project from quotation and conception through tender and construction stages.

Always keen to learn and keep pace with the ever-changing demands and design requirements for all design projects, utilising the latest, most efficient analysis methods to deliver a project using the most effective materials.

His particular interests have recently swayed to strive for environmentally conscious solutions
while maintaining standard details where possible, keeping a commercial and financial balance.




Sandra Pousadas – Structural Engineer (Design)

After graduating in Civil Engineer and Conservation of historical buildings and having over 10 years work experience abroad in the industry, Sandra moved to UK and started working at structural engineering consultancy, being involved from a range of designing residential buildings, AutoCAD, Revit Structural, and others
Passionate about structural engineering and the importance of balance between efficiency and safety in our modern days.

What drew Sandra's attention to our company was the innovative structural work methods developing new skills using technology, and the work flexibility setting out an example for the industry.
Away from work, Sandra loves travelling, partaking in outdoor sports... particularly swimming and classical music.

Samantha Goulden – Operations Manager

Samantha’s role at Structural Surveys is Operations Manager. With 27 years of experience giving her a strong administration and book-keeping background, her main responsibilities in this role is to ensure the smooth running of the office, managing the survey and design co-ordinators and manage the company accounts, using her multi-tasking skills to the upmost during her office managerial role.

When Sam first joined Structural Surveys there was a team of 3 and from the offset she could see the huge potential the company had and she wanted to be part of a fast growing company with digital technology like no other. Sam says ‘We have a great team and may it continue to grow.’

Siobhan Didsbury - Senior Co-ordinator

Having previously worked in customer service for 8 years, I am passionate about providing a smooth customer / client journey – It can be a stressful time for customers, I am all for making it simple and easy for them. I enjoy a challenge and to gain knowledge – hence my move over to the property industry with Structural Surveys.

I was attracted to the companies’ values “you are not just a number with us” – I am really looking forward to being a part of the business as they grow!

Anne O’Haire – Design Co-ordinator

Anne has worked within the property industry for over 30 years, starting at 18 in an Estate Agents, which she enjoyed and continues to within her current role as Design Co-Ordinator with Structural Surveys. Her team members are all dedicated and thrive to offer a great service.

The Company’s advanced technology allows for a very quick turnaround and she loves reading the testimonials that come through on a daily basis, it definitely gives her a buzz and sense of pride
